Income Tax Payments on Account deferral
The payment on account due on 31 July 2020 has been deferred until 31 January 2021.
No application necessary, this is an automatic deferral for all eligible.
VAT payment deferral
VAT payments originally due to made in the period from 20 March 2020 to 30 June 2020 have been deferred. These payments are now due on 31 March 2021.
No application is necessay, this is an automatic deferral for all those eligible.
VAT refunds and reclaims are being processed as normal by HMRC.
Coronaviris HMRC Helpline
HMRC have launched a new helpline aimed at businesses and the self employed who are having problems in meeting their tax obligations due to the impact of Covid 19.
The helpline number is 0800 0159 559. Those affected are encouraged to call to discuss:
- Setting up a time to pay arrangement for those anticipating difficulties in paying tax bills.
- Suspending debt collection proceedings.
- Cancelling late paymeny penalties and interest.
Additional IR35 rules delayed to April 2021
On 17th March 2020, the Treasury announced that the roll out of the new IR35 rules to the private sector will no longer take place on 6 April 2020 an has been postponed to 6 April 2021.
